BIO

JOEL SAPPINGTON is a Writer, Director, and Producer whose passion for storytelling crosses over between the narrative, documentary, videography and industrial mediums. This versatility sets Joel apart and supports him as a filmmaker dedicated to putting truth on screen.

Joel spent his formative years in Indonesia before moving to southern California for his undergrad at Biola University. He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Communications and moved up to Los Angeles where he fell more in love with the filmmaking process. He has lived in The United States, Canada, Asia and Europe and has travelled across the globe, instilling in him a broader perspective on the world, cultures, religions, and humanity.

After spending two years in Mobile, Alabama working in the art department on feature films such as, BEFORE I WAKE, HUSH, VICE, HEIST, and USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE, Joel moved back to Los Angeles to complete an MFA in Film/Television at Mount St. Mary’s University.

Joel has recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the program and has written, directed, and produced 5 short films – GOODBYE, LENNY (Narrative), ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE (Documentary), THIS IS ELOQUENCE® (Industrial), BRIGHT EYES (Narrative), and STUFFED: THE RAY MURPHY STORY (Documentary).  He’s currently developing his first feature film, WEEKS BAY, which he hopes to film in the fall of 2017.

Joel now lives in Los Angeles with his wife Tricia - his much more attractive and infinitely better half.
